Wines labelled "Chianti Classico" come from the biggest sub-area of Chianti, that includes the original Chianti heartland.
Only Chianti from this area may boast the black rooster seal on the neck of the bottle, which indicates that the producer of the wine is a member of the Chianti Classico Consortium, the local association of producers.
The consortium candidated the “landscape of Chianti Classico” as World Heritage from UNESCO and set up a competition for the logotype.

In the brief, the client asked for a solution capable of blending the 3 pillars of the landscape of Chianti Classico:
- black rooster
- landscape
- wine
My designs take three different directions but all aim to do what was asked in the brief.
The competition was closed, no winner was declared.
I then got asked to develop a mood video to explain the history of the black rooster.
